Data Deletion
Last updated: May 2026
Deleting your account and data
Your data is yours, and that includes the right to take it all back. This page explains exactly what Tidy stores, how to ask for it to be deleted, and what happens when you do. No login is required to read this — if you need to reach a human, the contact is at the bottom.
What data Tidy stores
- Account details: your name, email address, and subscription status.
- Ingested content: the email, calendar events, notes, tasks, files, and contacts you connect or create.
- Derived AI data: summaries, embeddings, and structure Tidy generates from your content so it can search and reason across it.
- Usage metrics: basic, content-free signals about whether the app is working.
How to request deletion
There are two ways, and either one deletes everything:
- In the app: open Settings → Privacy & Data and choose to delete your account and data.
- By email: if you can’t reach the app, email privacy@tidy.engineering from the address on your account and ask us to delete your account and data. We’ll confirm before we act.
What happens, and how long it takes
- On request, your account is deactivated and your data is queued for permanent deletion.
- Your content and the AI data derived from it are permanently purged within 30 days of the request.
- This is the same deletion that happens automatically after the 60-day deep freeze described in the Terms of Service — once data is purged, it’s gone for good.
- You can export your data first. Export is available anytime before deletion, so you keep a copy of your notes, tasks, email, and contacts.
- Encrypted backups rotate out on their normal schedule and are fully purged within 60 days.
